BSmyth

Last week Friday we spoke to up and coming Singer/Songwriter/Dancer B.Smyth. B. Smyth started out as a singing sensation on YouTube which caught the eyes of music executives everywhere. currently signed to Motwon records we talked to B.Smyth about his upbringing in music, his current single “Leggo” with rapper 2 Chainz which hit over a million views after debuting a month ago we also talked about his upcoming debut album and what fans can expect to hear.

YMMW: You grew up in Florida, Who did you look up to music wise growing up?

B.Smyth: Growing up in Florida we listened to a lot of rappers such as trick daddy & uncle Luke but also R&B such Michael Jackson Stevie Wonder.

YMMW: You are new to the Motown Label how does it feel being a new artist after growing a huge fan base being a YouTube sensation?

B.Smyth: I feel like live grown a lot since youtube, with who i am and my music right now I feel like I’m now able to bring that to life and bring that to stage now

YMMW: You recently released your single Leggo featuring 2 Chainz, how was it like working with 2 Chainz on this record?

B.Smyth: It was dope and weird at the same time because we didn’t meet until we shot the video during the time we sent the song out he was working on his album finishing up a few things but when we shot the video he made it very comfortable for me as a new artist & he was real cool.

YMMW: With being a new artist you had the opportunity to go on Tour with Miguel and Trey Songz, What was the experience like and what did you learn most from Trey & Miguel while on the road?

B.Smyth: I did two dates with them and i learned a lot about staging and production and its a lot that goes into a show and i got little tips about stage presence and and how to keep the crowed entertained

YMMW: Did you think having a huge following on YouTube would eventually get you a signed deal with Motown?

B.Smyth: I thought it would eventually get peoples eyes on me and get a chance to see my talent, I didn’t have the money to get into a studio so YouTube was my only outlet which allowed me to grow a huge following on there.

YMMW: You really have a lot of talent dancing and singing, which came first was it the singing or dancing?

B.Smyth: Singing was first I can always dance and move a little but i always sing first and when i decided to do music as career i was taking 5 different dance classes a week and then dancing at home with my friends

YMMW: Your video for Leggo got over a million views a little over a month, did you expect the video to get that many views in such little time.

B.Smyth: Nah not at all, especially on vevo its really hard to find new artists not being on the front page you have to search for them so getting that was huge and on world star we have over 3million

YMMW: Since your new single Leggo is out and you toured with Trey Songz & Miguel have you started working on your debut album?

B.Smyth: Yea I have been recording for a year now and have a lot of songs to were about to start wrapping the album up very soon

YMMW: Who have you worked with so far on your debut album such as songwriters & producers?

B.Smyth: A few people that I have worked with so far on this album is Ne-yo, Kevin McCall,Tank,Tha Bizness, Rock City, b B Major, Troy Taylor, Harold Lilly, and jasper and a few more that I can not say for right now.

YMMW:With your debut album what can your YouTube followers and new listeners expect to hear?

arell Perry has collaborated with everyone from Fat Joe and Usher to Diplo and Rusko, but the singer songwriter is ready to release his immense talents on the world as a solo artist. From his forthcoming “Simple Things” full-length (out March 18), “Getaway” is a soaring R&B performance that crescendoes into an explosion of emotion and longing. Riding along the warm currents of Jarell’s undeniable vocal stylings, the Hassan-produced track combines with the cold reality of modern love into a true storm of heart and soul.

In addition to the release of “Simple Things,” Jarell Perry will be featured on first quarter collaborations with Thurz, Cadence Weapon, and Cormega. The LA-based artist is also working on music with hip-hop mega-producer Boi-1da and others, for what is shaping up to be an incredible break-out year.
