One era of music I’m sure most of us miss is the 90’s, particularly R&B in the 90’s. During the Soul Train Awards weekend, BET launched a mini digital series titled ‘State of R&B.’ In the three-episode series music influencers including singer/songwriter Sevyn Streeter, singer/songwriter Elijah Blake, singer Rachel Kerr, producer Harmony Samuels and songwriter LaShawn Daniels talk about what made 90’s R&B so great.

The panelist also discussed how technology has altered the R&B music industry. The group also dig deep into the conversation as they address colorism, social media popularity, and cultural differences. They also pay homage to Brandy and the Soul Train Awards honorees Toni Braxton and SWV for being some of the most influential artists in the 90s’ Check out the 3 part series below.
