Last night the 2016 BET Awards aired live at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, and as promised things were LIT! The show kicked off with a surprise performance from the Queen B herself Beyonce as she performed Freedom alongside Kendrick Lamar. Followed by many performance tributes to the great Prince including Janelle Monáe, Erykah Badu, Bilal, The Roots, Stevie Wonder, Tori Kelly, and Jennifer Hudson.

Usher also hit the stage as he performed his new single “No Limit” featuring Young Thug, and Alicia Keys who gave a one-woman performance of her new single “In Common.” New York definitely represented when Fat Joe, Remy Ma and French Montana hit the  BET Awards stage with a performance of their summer anthem “All the Way Up.” Check out all the performances below.

The 2016 BET awards is already shaping up the be one of the best award shows for the summer, after announcing that Alicia Keys, Maxwell, as performers and Prince tributes by D’Angelo, The Roots, and Janelle Monáe, the network took today to announce that Future, Usher, and Bryson Tiller will be joining the star- studded line up for this year’s performers.

BET also has a secret performer on board, which fans can help identify by using the hashtag #BETAwardsReveal on Twitter and Facebook. If enough fans use the tag, the name of secret performer will be revealed. Anthony Anderson Tracee Ellis Ross are set to co-host the show, which will air live on June 26 from Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater at 8 p.m. EST.

Earlier today BET announced its official nominees for the 2016 BET awards, which will air live on Sunday, June 26, from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles at 8 p.m. ET. Drake kicked things off with the most nominations, including Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, Best Collaboration, and Video of the Year. Beyonce wasn’t too far behind, as the Formation singer racked up 5 nominations tying up with Rihanna who also received 5.

Today BET announces the nominees for their 14th annual BET Music Awards, and we all knew Beyonce was gonna rack up in nominations since dropping her album as a surprise back in late December. Queen B has been nominated for the categories for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Best Collaboration for “Drunk in Love,” and Video of the Year. Her husband Jay-z was not far behind as he was nominated for Best Male Hip Hop Artist, Best Collaboration, and Video of the Year for “Drunk in Love.” for the categories   Pharrell makes his comeback with a total of 4 nominees for while new comer August Alsina is nominated for 4 awards as well.  The BET Awards 2014 will air live on Sunday, June 29, at 8 p.m. EST from the Nokia Theatre L.A. Last night some of the industry’s biggest stars came out for the 2014 BET Honors in DC at Warner Theatre, to honor African-American icons. The seventh annual event was hosted by Wayne Brady as they honored the achievements of Aretha Franklin, Ice Cube, Berry Gordy, and more. Some of the nights musical guest included Jennifer Hudson, Tamar Braxton, Janelle Monáe, Smokey Robinson,Karen Clarke-Sheard and Mariah Carey who performed her new song Your Mine.
