“All fear does is keep you from the highest version of yourself. You are afraid of how great you can be, not if you are great. The truth is courage, but you need the fear to introduce you to the courage, just like you need the lie to recognize the truth.
It’s all spiritual. It’s all about becoming the version of yourself that God created. You have to start listening to that intuition, that positive voice that’s within us all. It’s real! You don’t trust it because the other part sounds more believable. We’ve been taught that realistic is negative. It’s too good to be true. No, it’s too good not to be true! You change your thinking, you change your life. You got to prove to yourself that you are already what you want to be.” -Brandy
While working hard in the studio with Stacey Barthe and Hit-Boy on her 7th studio album, Brandy is still keeping busy as she just announced that she will be making her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart in the Tony Award-winning musical Chicago. The eight-week limited engagement runs from April 28 to June 21 at the Ambassador Theatre in New York.

Has Brandy switched record labels?
All signs certainly suggest so after the singer’s manager, Breyon Prescott, was recently appointed as the head of urban A&R at Epic Records, home to R&B artists such as Ciara, Tamar Braxton and, as announced today, Mariah Carey. What’s interesting is that the appointment sees the business mogul move his Chameleon Entertainment imprint – which Brandy is signed to – with him.
Now, Brandy is no stranger to label switches, as some may remember that Epic Records is the same label she departed from back in 2009 following the release of fifth studio album “Human“, before releasing her last effort, “Two Eleven“, via RCA Records and Chameleon in 2012. Her future with RCA has since been questioned after being removed from the labels website, prompting speculation that she is now without a record deal or has signed elsewhere.
Details below via Music Week:
Breyon Prescott has been named head of urban A&R at Epic Records.
In the role, announced by Epic Records chairman and CEO L.A. Reid, Prescott will be responsible for identifying, developing and nurturing new and existing talent for the label in addition to managing the urban A&R team. The exec will also bring his Chameleon Entertainment imprint to the label.
Said Reid: “It gives me great pleasure to welcome Breyon to Epic Records. His instincts, relationships and ability to deliver the hits are a perfect match for our A&R team. I’m especially proud of Breyon for spearheading the revival of iconic R&B group Jodeci… the guys have delivered an incredible album.”
Added Prescott: “After 20 years in this industry, I am honored to work with one of the last, true “record men” who undeniably has the best ears in the business. I am continually impressed by L.A.’s leadership and ability to stay passionate for his craft, in spite of all his groundbreaking success. We have some incredible music on deck for 2015 and I’m looking forward to having many more banner years at Epic.”
Prescott has worked as A&R executive, producer and executive producer on multi-platinum projects with Jamie Foxx, Drake, Kanye West, D’Angelo, Angie Stone and Brandy to name a few. As President/CEO of Chameleon Entertainment, Mr. Prescott continues to executive produce the latest Jamie Foxx project which is set for a December release, along with managing acts such as Nikki Williams and Brandy.
Whatever the case, Brandy’s return to music would be a great addition to 2015’s music calendar. Previous album “Two Eleven” saw her return to form when it produced the club banger that was “Put It Down“, her first top 10 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart in over 10 years. Here’s hoping the label move doesn’t hold up the new album’s release for too long.
I can’t wait till Brandy comes back with another album but, until then we will have to settle for her guest features. Earlier today newcomers Mystery Skulls called upon Brandy & guitar legend Nile Rodgers for their “Number 1″ off their upcoming debut Forever. Check out the single below.
Last night was a 90’s reunion as Brandy, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, & Yo-Yo came together again after 20 years for a surprise performance of ‘I Wanna Down Remix.’ This performance was nice I don’t think it fit at the Hip-Hop awards I would have rather seen them reunite on the BET awards instead of the Hip-Hop awards.
While she is working on the follow up to her 2012 album Two Eleven, Brandy gives her fans something to hold them over till the meantime putting an R&B twist to Coldplay’s hit single Magic. There is no word as when Brandy will announce her new music and label home but hopefully we will hear an announcement soon. Check out her cover below.
