As we all get ready to end another year and begin a new one, we take a look back into these years’ music releases and give you all the top songs that made our list, from both mainstream and underground talent.

1. DVSN: R&B Duo consisting of Daniel Daley and Nineteen85 had a great year, after their single With Me gained a great buzz being featured on the seventh OVO Sound radio show but it wasn’t until the group released their sultry tune Too Deep which catapulted the group to a greater success. Since then the group released their 4th single Hallucinations on sound cloud, which scored them a major label deal with Drake’s OVO Sound record label. DVSM continued their successful streak with the release of their debut project September 5th exclusively on the iTunes Store and Apple Music. This is one song definitely made our list for best song of 2016 because, while there are few new artists who stick with traditional R&B and actually gain attention singing it, DVSN is a duo we are excited to see what they have in store for 2017.

2. Lyrica Anderson: Before joining the cast of Love and Hip Hop Hollywood Lyrica Anderson has been a behind the scenes gem writing songs for artists such as Chris Brown, Beyonce, Demi Lovato, J.Lo and more. In the 4th Quarter 2015 Lyrica continued to grow her buzz as an artist with the released her LP “Hello” and shortly after that the world knew who Lyrica was as she joined the 3rd season of the hit reality show franchise Love and Hip-Hop. Since then Lyrica has released her reggae infused single “Give It To Me” which samples Tanto Metro &Devonte’s “Give It To Her.” For 2017 Lyrica has promised there will be more music on the way, and we can not wait to see what she delivers’.

3. Anderson.Pakk: While performing and gaining a fan base, Anderson.Pakk received his commercial breakthrough with the release of his second studio album “Malibu.” Offering a wide range sound of funk and soul, Anderson.Pakk made his mark with his second single “Am I Wrong” featuring TDE’s Schoolboy Q, not long after releasing his album, Paak announced via Twitter he has signed to Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment. With his sophomore album Malibu gaining such great reviews the California native scored himself on the cover of the XXL Freshman, along with Lil Dicky, Desiigner, Dave East, Denzel Curry, Lil Yachty. Earlier this month Anderson.Pakk also received his first Grammy nomination for Best Urban Contemporary Album, 2017 is already set up to be a great year for Anderson and we are sure he has a lot more for us music lovers to experience.

4. Kirby Lauryen:  While her name may not sound familiar right now, we are pretty sure you all have been singing one of the many songs she has written for today’s hottest acts including Beyonce’s Tidal-exclusive “Die With You,” Kanye West’s “Only One” and Rihanna’s star-studded collaboration “FourFiveSeconds.” The Roc nation signee unleashed her own material earlier this year with her soulful ballad “Loved By You,” Kirby caught our ears with her emotionally-charged vocals to the painfully vulnerable lyrics. While we haven’t heard much from Kirby since the release of her single, we know that this is one artist that will have a bright 2017.

5. Jacob Latimore: Jacob Lattimore may not be new to the music scene, the Milwaukee, native first popped on the scene with his 2007 single “Superstar” as a new signee on Jive Records, while being signed did little for Jacob the singer decided to put his energy into movies starring in featured films such as Ride along, Black Nativity and his most recent film Collateral Beauty, along Will Smith. After being featured in various films Jacob returned back to music with a more mature look and sound, kicking things off his 2015 single “Climb.” Since then Jacob Latimore released his debut album “Connection,” with a new tour kicking off next year Jacob has proven that he will be one to look out for in 2017.
