Janet Jackson made history again during the Billboard Music Awards as the first black woman to receive the Icon Award during last night show in Las Vegas. After being introduced by Bruno Mars, the music Icon hit the stage to perform her hit song Nasty. The fun didn’t stop there as Janet and her dancers lead into a quick dance breakdown of “If” before closing out the show with her 1993 hit Throb.

After giving us a little of what we can expect on tour, Janet accepted the Icon Award and delivered a powerful speech. “My prayer is that weary of such noise, we turn back to the source of all calmness. That source is God. Everything we lack, God has in abundance. Compassion, sensitivity, patience, and a boundless love.

black R&BR&B music is slowly dying not only because of the declining albums sales but because of the music itself seems to be less inspiring, it`s soul seems less existent and the content seems commercial driven less about delivering a heartfelt message that offers honestly and healing.

janet-jackson-dammn-baby-videoThis woman right here, I love her to pieces and her music is everything extremely impactful in way, especially the “Janet” album, which saw her embracing the strength, and sensuality that comes with being a woman and I love the fact that she has boldly showcased her sexuality throughout her career and taught women that they have nothing to be shamed of. With all that said I want to wish her a happy birthday and for 50 she looks like she is in her late 20`s.
