After hitting #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with a historic remix of “Savage” featuring Beyoncé, that benefitted Houston-based charity Bread Of Life Inc., Houston Hottie Megan Thee Stallion is turning up the heat on Hot Girl Summer with a brand new single, “Girls In The Hood.”

Sampling the Eazy-E classic “Boyz-N-The-Hood,” “Girls In The Hood” is a street-smart ode to the area Megan grew up in and the pride in being a product of her surroundings. A celebration of the lifestyle and energy of her community, “Girls In The Hood” features all the hallmarks of Megan at her finest; playful lyricism, hard-hitting delivery, and a self-confident vibe. Using the track to celebrate her culture and her blackness, Megan has created an anthem reminding girls worldwide that just because you’re from the bottom, it doesn’t mean you can’t come out on top and keep it real the whole way.

“Girls In The Hood” comes halfway through Hot Girl Meg’s best year yet, with her star turn on HBO Max’s show “Legendary,” her next step into fashion as an ambassador for Savage X Fenty, a #1 single under her belt, an incredible 5 nominations at the 2020 BET Awards, airing live this Sunday on BET and CBS at 8/7c, and an upcoming performance on the GMA concert series (airing August 21st).

Singer/songwriter Victoria Monét joins forces with Khalid and SG Lewis for a new song called “Experience,” from her forthcoming project Jaguar, which is out July 31.

Before the song premiered today, Victoria spoke a little about the track saying: “This song, though deep in subject matter, sonically simply feels joyful and celebratory. It’s important to us to highlight and celebrate Black joy and love in the middle of so much pain and trauma,” Victoria Monét and Khalid said in a statement.

June is Black Music Month. It’s also Pride Month—and even though worldwide celebrations had initially been canceled for public safety during a health crisis, I, Victoria, feel my queer identity is another important celebration for me. The LGBTQ+ community and the Black community (especially those of us who are part of both) have always struggled to be seen in our own ways. The struggles between the two are not the same, but they share the inspiring persistence in the relentless pursuit to be heard and seen, especially in difficult times like these. Though it was a scary decision, we wanted to honor and represent that fearless part of our people by continuing with this release through it all.

Ro James took his time when it came to releasing his Sophmore album, but today the wait is over. Ro James kicked off his album with the Usher sampled track ‘Last Time” and Touchy Feely. The 15 track LP also features guest appearances from Brandy, Miguel, Masego.

“The music I create evokes a feeling of romance, but I wanted to dissect that word and break it down by taking the ‘ro’ out of it. MANTIC refers to divination and prophecy—seeking knowledge of the future through supernatural means. Speaking things into existence and living forward, having faith in where you’re supposed to be and where you’re going.”

GRAMMY Award-winning multiplatinum singer, songwriter, producer, actor, author, and R&B icon Anthony Hamilton returns with his first original solo single in two years “Back Together” feat. Rick James. Written by Anthony Hamilton, Ed D. Kane and produced by 9th Wonder [Mary J. Blige, JAY-Z, Drake], a simmering beat and strings wrap around Hamilton’s instantly recognizable delivery on the verses. Meanwhile, he duets with none other than the late legend Rick James by way of a sample 9th Wonder dug out of the crates. Complemented by a classic James harmony, he carries the hook—“Why can’t we just get back together?” to the heavens and back.

In other big news, Hamilton recently launched his new label My Music Box in partnership with BMG, and “Back Together” marks the first release under this newly minted alliance. It also paves the way for his upcoming full-length album, slated for release later this summer.

Hamilton has been at the forefront of COVID-19 relief efforts, taking the virtual stage last month at “Saving OurSelves: A BET COVID-19 Relief Effort,” which premiered on BET Networks, and lending his voice to “Under One Roof: Livestream Concert to Benefit North Carolina Artists.”
